Mabuhay Philippines

I visited the Philippines in April of 2005 with my wife Catherine. We spent two weeks touring Manila, Baguio and her home province of Bulacan. It was definitely the most alien place that I have ever been. The people are extremely humble and abnormally hospitable which took some getting used to. I got to participate in a variety of activities that the average tourist wouldn’t think of doing while on “vacation.” I husked corn on the family farm and I got to help kill and butcher a goat for dinner. We traveled by Jeepney, by motorized tricycle and in the families armored van. Some day we hope to return to see much more of the country and we’ll bring the kids along this time.
